Digital Cortex

Tagline: The mind rendered as circuitry and dream. A human head floats against a dense field of textures, brain exposed, marked with a QR code. The piece questions what it means to translate thought into code, memory into machine.

Materials

This is from our Symbiosis collection which is an ongoing collaboration between abstract painter Sharon Cannon and photographer Don Saban. Each work begins with one of Cannon's richly textured oil paintings, into which Saban merges a photographic image. The result is not a simple overlay, but a seamless visual fusion --where painting and photography intertwine and transform each other. Printed with archival pigment inks on cold press paper, the final pieces carry the expressive energy of paint and the clarity of the lens. Together, they form a layered exploration of memory, perception, and presence--work that neither artist could have made alone.
